Know what’s behind every one of the thousands of animals at the Dallas Zoo? Many, many zookeepers! They’re beside their charges every day and night, rain or shine, ice storm or sizzling 108-degree days. They’re smart (almost all are college grads in zoology or biology). They’re big-hearted. They deal with guests as well as animals, sharing their knowledge to connect people to wildlife. It’s a physically challenging job, but also requires creativity and innovation, because sometimes there aren’t simple answers to our unique issues. They’re half MacGyver, half Dr. Seuss, half Dr. Doolittle and all devotion. For NATIONAL ZOO KEEPER APPRECIATION WEEK, our dedicated team explains why they do what they do.Dedication & Devotion: National Zoo Keeper Week 2014 - YouTube | |
