Elephants may well be the most majestic creatures on Earth. On World Elephant Day 2014, meet our five "Golden Girls," who explore their spacious Savanna with abandon, swimming in their pools, rolling in their mud wallows, and walking up to 11 miles per day. They're incredibly social and amazingly smart. And it's a tragedy that an average of 96 elephants per day are being slain in the wild in Africa, victims of the ridiculous lust for ivory. (Did you know that the U.S. is the second highest consumer of ivory?) Please join the Dallas Zoo and the 96Elephants campaign (96elephants.org) in pledging not to buy ivory and in telling lawmakers that it's time to ban ivory sales. Take action now -- before it's too late.
